Founded in 2006 by passionate music graduates Chao-Chen Lin and Ya-Wen Hsiao, the Angel Heart Family is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families of children with disabilities. Our journey began after Chao-Chen and Ya-Wen welcomed two daughters with developmental delays into their lives. As they navigated the challenges of parenting while confronting their own hardships, they transformed their struggles into a mission to uplift other families facing similar circumstances.
Just like many families with children who have disabilities, they encountered a whirlwind of emotional and financial challenges that left them feeling lost and overwhelmed. However, through their faith and resilience, they came to see their daughters not as burdens but as beautiful angels sent to enrich their lives. This shift in perspective breathed new life into their hearts, igniting a passion to foster hope and support within the community.
Driven by their experiences, Chao-Chen and Ya-Wen understood a vital truth: when parents stand up and advocate for their children, they open the door to a brighter future. They coined the term “Angel” to represent the children with disabilities and embraced the concept of an “Angel Heart” for the selfless parents who nurture them without expectation.
On September 5, 2002, they invited other families to join them in creating the “Angel Heart Family” a supportive community where shared experiences could transform lives. Initially, utilizing their musical talents to host concerts for awareness and connection, they also organized parental seminars that provided safe spaces for sharing and support. Over the years, as parents grew through their challenges, many families experienced profound transformations in their relationships.
By November 14, 2006, the Angel Heart Family Social Welfare Foundation was officially established as Taiwan’s first organization dedicated to the well-being of parents and nondisabled siblings of children with disabilities. Today, we proudly operate in six locations: Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Our foundation offers a wide array of resources to nurture the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of families we serve.
We also organize outreach events such as 336 Angel's Day and Angel Heart Family Concerts to promote public understanding and acceptance of children with disabilities and their families. Together, we aim to create a compassionate community that supports one another.
